Igniting confidence.
Turning possibility into reality
Empowering care experienced young people to build confident, independent, and fulfilling futures.
What we do
We provide one-to-one mentoring for care-experienced young people, using real-world, hands-on learning in our sandwich deli and micro bakery. During mentoring sessions, the deli is closed to the public, creating a safe and supportive space for young people to build confidence, develop independence, and learn practical skills. When they are ready, they progress into work experience placements in the deli.
Mentoring
Providing consistent, trusted one to one support through meaningful relationships that promote belonging, emotional well-being resilience and independence, shaped around the strengths aspirations and individual needs of each young person.
Real experiences and Real opportunities
Practical activities and meaningful experiences that create opportunities to learn, build confidence and discover strengths and develop skills needed to thrive.
Moving Forward
“We want to work with our young people to identify and access the next opportunities in their journey, whether that is employment, education, training, volunteering or continued personal; development”
Not everyone starts with the same support around them.
For many care-experienced young people and care leavers, the journey into adulthood can take place without enduring family connections and consistent support that provide a foundation for confidence, belonging and resilience. We recognise this and support each young person in a trauma informed way.
Why Jam & Bread?
40% of care leavers aged 19-21 are not in education, employment or training.

We want to change this statistic and work with young people to find their pathway into education, employment and training
Our approach
We build trust first — creating a safe, strengths-based environment where young people can learn through real experience, develop practical skills and grow the confidence to take their next step.
12 sessions. Built around the individual.
Our mentoring programme gives each young person consistent one-to-one support through 12 meaningful sessions, shaped around their needs, interests and goals.
Who We Support
Care experience shouldn't define what comes next.
We work with care-experienced young people and care leavers who may benefit from consistent, individual support as they build confidence, independence and their plans for the future..
Every young person arrives with different experiences, strengths and challenges. Our approach starts with the individual — not a label.
Help Fund Their Next Step
Not every young person who could benefit from our programme will be able to access publicly funded support. Community funding helps make sure that doesn't mean they miss out.
Our 12-session mentoring programme gives care-experienced young people and care leavers the support they need to build confidence, independence and a positive plan for the future
